In addition to the ratchet wheel mechanism, we developed a simple Slidelock variant for GLOBUS. The Slidelock mechanism was developed as an entry-level version, significantly more affordable and even lighter than the ratchet wheel system, yet still comfortable and easy to use. It follows the same product design language as the premium variant.

The goal of the project was a fast implementation with a strong focus on low weight. We first explored several design ideas using prototype iterations, then selected the most ergonomic and efficient solution. Thanks to rapid prototyping and quick material testing, the design could be transferred to tooling within a very short time.

The project exemplifies how we at Schuler Produktdesign, in close collaboration with 4TEC Engineering, combine functional and aesthetic perfection—thought out down to the last detail, with an eye on the big picture.
