Adjustable Headband Ratchet Wheel for GLOBUS
For GLOBUS, we developed a completely new ratchet wheel headband that replaces the previous heavy and unergonomic ENHA mechanism. Redesigned from the scratch, the result is a product that is lightweight, intuitive to use, circumvents existing patents, and is itself patentable. The result is a user-friendly, finely adjustable mechanism that fits seamlessly into Globus' existing product design language.
Compared to the previous system, the weight has been reduced by over 50%. A clever design enables a slim construction and plug-in assembly without screws.
The concept was quickly validated with 3D-printed functional samples and transferred to series production with just one prototype. The tools were built at 4TEC China, and production takes place at GLOBUS.
The project exemplifies how we at Schuler Produktdesign, in close collaboration with 4TEC Engineering, combine functional and aesthetic perfection—thought out down to the last detail, with an eye on the big picture.
